I actually left the house to go see the fireworks yesterday - that's the longest I have been outside for the last six weeks. It feels great to rejoin the world!

- I am the mother of an ex-preemie born at 26.1 weeks gestation and a termie born at 38.3 weeks. They are both miracles! I blog to share my first son's story of an early birth, amazing recovery and growth. I am also sharing my story of going through pregnancy again after having the preemie experience.
A Proactive Pregnancy: All of the things I have done to reach full-term.
- Pre-conception fish oil (4 grams daily) and prenatal vitamins
- Pelvic Rest (starting at 14 weeks)
- 17-alpha-hydroxyprogesterone (17p) injections; weeks 16 - 35
- Prescription fish oil during pregnancy (Lovaza, 4 grams daily)
- Vit C 500 mg daily
- Florajen daily (probiotic)
- Vit D 5,000 IU daily (with regular blood levels drawn)
- Nifedipine (10mg) three-four times daily (weeks 25-36)
- 48-hour magnesium sulfate to stop possible preterm labor and receive betamethasone at 29 weeks
- Prescribed bed rest weeks 29-35; again at 36.4 weeks-delivery
- Monitoring, Monitoring, Monitoring
- Extremely knowledgeable and supportive OB
- Extremely supportive family, friends, and place of work
