Alden was born on March 13th at 7:26pm. He was 26 weeks and 1 day gestation. He is doing well in the NICU in his cozy incubator. In the pics, you see he is has lots of wires that help the staff monitor his vital signs. He is also on a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine that helps his little lung sacs stay open and he is breathing room air. Mom and Dad visit him every day, and he has also met many other family members. We love our strong little boy!
You should see mama's belly now! Jessi is 26 weeks as of March 12, in a Madison hospital, and holding. She and baby have been in the hospital since March 2 when they were admitted because of preterm labor. All the staff here, plus of course Dave, are taking great care of Jessi. Lots of family and friends visit every day. According to the docs, we will be here on strict bedrest for the remainder of the pregnancy. Let's hope we stay here for a loooong time! ;)
Ok, here are those belly pics we've been meaning to post...The first is Jessi and baby at 15 weeks. The second at 20 weeks. Our family is just growing!
What is the answer? There is no easy answer, no complete answer. I have only clues, shells from the sea...Channeled whelk, I put you down again, but you have set my mind on a journey, up an inwardly winding spiral staircase of thought. ~ Anne Morrow Lindberg, Gift from the Sea
I am the mother of an ex-preemie born at 26.1 weeks gestation and a termie born at 38.3 weeks. They are both miracles! I blog to share my first son's story of an early birth, amazing recovery and growth. I am also sharing my story of going through pregnancy again after having the preemie experience.
